Shelter in a harsh environment
Set amongst the rocky outcrops of Bannockburn, our brief was to enlarge our client's existing home and provide shade and shelter.
Originally designed for future expansion as the family grew, this home boasts elevated living, dining, and kitchen areas strategically positioned to capture panoramic views. From Cromwell in the North to Mount Difficulty in the South and the Nevis Range to the South, the scenery is breathtaking. The design emphasizes sheltered outdoor spaces seamlessly connected to the living room, perfect for enjoying the views and entertaining guests.
A significant focus was placed on thermal performance to counter extreme temperature fluctuations. The scullery conveniently opens onto the North deck, while the kitchen offers stunning views of Mount Difficulty and the Nevis Range. A home office, nestled quietly off the stairwell, provides contemplative space with views to the East and South.
Adding to its accessibility, the home features lift access within the entry, ensuring usability for all stages of life. This thoughtful design melds aesthetics, functionality, and comfort, creating a space that embraces both the natural surroundings and the needs of its occupants.
Currently under construction by Chris Dickey (owner) of ATD Building, we are expecting the home to be complete in early 2024.
